DECEIVERS IN THE BIBLE
1.
Jacob
Jacob was a classic example
of a deceiver, trickster in the bible. He swindled his only brother out of his
birthright in exchange for a bowl of porridge.
2. Laban
In Laban, Jacob met his
match. He deceived Jacob into marrying
Leah in order to have the woman that he actually loved, Rachel. Had it not been for the Lord’s mercy and
intervention, he would have cheated Jacob out of the wages for his labor.
3.
Rachel
Rachel was a chip of the
old block. She was just like her father,
deceptive, trickish, and manipulative.
Her lies and deception led to her untimely death.
4.
Judas Iscariot
Judas Iscariot was deceptive.
He ate with Jesus and yet sold him off to the High priest and his group for
money. He ended up committing
suicide. So shall all our enemies
assigned to deceive up commit suicide in the process in Jesus name.
5.
Ananias and Sapphira
In a bid to look good in
front of man, Ananias and Sapphira tied to deceive Apostle Peter. They lied
that they gave all the money that they sold from their land to the church even
though they had held unto some of the money. They tried to deceive the Holy Spirit
and paid dearly for it. The judgment of God fell on them and they died right in
front of the whole congregation.
PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE THAT WERE DECEIVED
1.
Adam and Eve
The devil came in the form
of a serpent and deceived them into disobeying God. This cost them everything
as they incurred divine judgment and were demoted. 2 Corinthians 11:3.
2. Joshua and the Elders of Israel
The Gibeonites deceived
them into making a covenant with them which God had forbidden them to do. They did this by pretending to be from a far
country even though they were not and were actually their neighbors whom God had
instructed them to kill, leaving none alive.
3.
Jacob
Jacob was deceived by his
father in law Laban several times. He
was deceived over his wages. The most prominent of the deceptions was being
tricked into marrying Leah after he has spent years serving for the right to
marry her sister, Rachel, the woman that he loved.
4.
Abraham
Abraham was deceived by
his wife Sarah into sleeping with his maid, Hagar in her desperation to have a
child.
5.
Lot
Lot’s daughters deceived
him into impregnating them by getting him drunk, having sex with him, and then
having babies by him.
6.
Esau
His brother stole his
birthright by tricking him at a weak moment to sell it to him for a morsel of
food.
7.
Samson
Samson was deceived by his
own wife, Delilah, who sold him to his enemies.
He ended up dying with his enemies, the Philistines.
CONSEQUENCES OF DECEPTION
The
consequences of deception can be very dire.
They can even lead to untimely death as it did in the case of Rachel, Judas
Iscariot, and Ananias and Sapphira. We will now look at these consequences.
1.
Sin and Disobedience
Sin and disobedience are some
of the deadly consequence of deception.
This happened to Adam and Eve, King Solomon and several others in the
Bible.
2.
Living Above Your
Spiritual Experience
This can lead to untimely
death as you can take on powers that you are not strong enough to hand and they
make mincemeat of you.
3.
Destiny Diversion
Samson is a good example.
4.
Satanic manipulation
Solomon fell into this
trap after he was lured into idolatry by his many strange wives.
5.
Easy Prey to Powers Of
Darkness
Samson became an easy pray
for the Philistines. Israel suffered
three years of famine because of the covenants that they unwittingly went into
with the Gibeonites.
6.
Rebellion Against God
Solomon rebelled against
God and went into idolatry with his foreign pagan wives, including the daughter
of Pharaoh.
7.
Demotion
Adam and Eve were demoted
and sentenced to hard labor. They were also banished from the beautiful garden
and their wonderful daily fellowship with God was lost.
8.
Wrong Positioning
Lot chose not listen to
the advice of the angels and was deceived into hanging around Sodom and
Gomorrah. It eventually caught up with him
and his daughters who got him drunk, had sex with him and had him father their
children.
9.
Error and Mistake
Deception brings in its
wake errors and mistakes. Esau realized that he had made a mistake but it was too
late. So did Samson in telling Delilah the secret of his power but it was too
late. He lost his eyes and he lost his life.
10. Physical and Spiritual Death
Adam, Eve, Samson, Lot’s
wife all ended up dead as a result of deception.

powers that specialize in deceiving people. These include:

person for years and make such a life a nonentity if aggressive measures are
not made to come out from under their evil umbrella. If you are being harassed by
these powers, you should seek help from a good deliverance oriented ministry.
3.

false prophets, palm readers, diviners, and other satanic intermediaries that
delight in turning lives upside down.
